According to Zambian foreign minister Given Lubinda, speaking following a meeting with Angolan transport minister Augusto da Silva Tomás, the rehabilitation of the Angolan railways will help develop the economic and social environment in Southern African countries like Zambia. Minister Tomás provided detailed information about Angola’s modernisation of transport infrastructure, with particular reference to the Benguela Railway (CFB) and the expansion of the Lobito Port. Lubinda was in Angola to attend a session of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Council of Ministers
