Mozambique’s government has granted permission for a consortium led by Brazil’s miner Vale to construct and operate a railway in the African country.

The 780km railroad will connect the city of Moatize to the Nacala port, on the Indian Ocean, according to Mozambique’s official press. The railway project is estimated to be worth to $1.5 billion, and will be developed by a consortium named Sociedade Corredor...
