Trip description: The trip initially takes you southwards around the city, going though the Pretoria Station, around past UNISA and Hatfield towards Koodoespoort. We then turn west, passing through Queenswood, Villieria and Capital Park, cross the Apies River, and then head northwards through Pretoria North and Ondersterpoort out into the country and on to Spoornet's huge Pyramid South marshalling yards. At the yards, we traverse the balloon (a u-shaped loop line) to reverse our tracks and head back to Hercules before reversing back into our depot at HERMANSTAD.
The trip lasts about 2,5 to 3 hours and takes place in the afternoon. Departure is at 13:30 sharp and we return at about 16:30. Perfect for those who do not want to take a whole day trip, but simply want an interesting train ride. If time permits, we may be able to stop en route and allow passengers to stretch their legs.
An information leaflet (available on the train at a minimal price) explains the various sights along the route. Learn some history and interesting facts about our home city!
