Re: A Portrait of Strength

When I worked at DB Shenker, we built a fleet of bogie ballast wagons, which involved fitting this type of knuckle coupler. These weighed an absolute TON,and were very scary and awkward to handle.
One careless move and you would certainly lose some fingers !!

Hi Dylan, sorry, dumped was the wrong term to use!
But who owns it, what condition is it in and what plans
are there for it ?

Tender plate ?

I've seen for sale a brass oval cast plate with the number N 50, and a small plate with MT brazed on to it.
It's said to be off a Class 19D tender; can anyone confirm this, and what does the MT refer to ?

Thanks John UK

Re: White Train Porcelain Query

I know I'm a bit late with this ( 2 years !), but I happen to live in the county of Staffordshire in the UK.
In particular, I live in Stoke on Trent, which was once THE world centre of the pottery making industry.
But no more ! All the famous factories have been closed and demolished, and what bit ...

What does this mean ?

Could anyone tell me what the abreviations S.A.T - S.A.V mean ?
I saw them on some gauges in a loco cab.

Thanks John

Steam loco drivers cap

Could anyone tell me if there was a "standard" type of cap issued to loco drivers in steam days, or was it a case of wear what you want ?
Any photo's of drivers would be most helpful ( I've acquired 2 SAR cap badges, so a cap to suit would be nice!).
Many thanks John

North british Locomotive builders plate

Hi, I'm John in the UK; I've just had the very good fortune to win of Ebay, a North British loco builders plate ( diamond type).
The seller did'nt give any details, but the build date on it is 1928 and the works number 23860.
Now according to my records, this appears to have been fitted to a ...

Re: Beyer Peacock brass plate

Hi Aidan, you're not perhaps confusing this with the large , oval main builders plate, which was indeed bolted to the main boiler frame ?
My apologies though if this small, oblong plate was also bolted in that area !
Would anyone have a photo of said plate in position ?

Thanks

Beyer Peacock brass plate

Hi, my names John, and I live in the UK.
I wonder if someone could help me out with this querie ?
I've purchased of Ebay a small (155mm x 55mm) brass plate made by Beyer Peacock.
The seller tells me it was removed from a GMAM Garratt, and I would like to know
just where on the loco it would have ...
