Two very nice pictures from Eugene, who says......
"Each year in March the cosmos blooms on the highveld, signalling the end of summer. One of the sections of line where the pink and white flowers can be found all along the tracks is Delmas - Ogies, with Dryden being the best display in my opinion. The flowers should last another 10 days or so, before they wither and die........until next year. These two shots of 18E's on westbound freights were taken on Saturday, 20th March."

Re: Cosmos Specials!
Even in Germany it doesn't look so nice along the tracks.

Re: Cosmos Specials!
I think the Cosmos came to South Africa from Argentina in horse feed during the Boer War.

Very interesting photos. Tom, you are correct about it being used as horse feed in the Boer war. David Benn told us and showed us on one of his slide presentations.
