Winter Photogala
Sunday 30 May saw the annual FOTR photogala. Loco used was 24 class 3664 who bowed out today for a 3-year boiler inspection. Anoter 24 No 3603 was also seen around the shed, having been unwrapped for her annual outing!
Driver Frik Boshoff, fireman Gabor Kovacs and assistant Dewald Heydenrych were our performers. A usual they put on a great show for the photographic people. The weather was unfortunately poor with plenty of cloud about, but no-one seemed to mind too much. Shutters clicked all morning and CF cards were pronounced full at the end of the session.

Around 100 photographers were in attendance!
We await some of their results.

Re: Winter Photogala
I would just like to firstly thank Chris Janisch for the organisation. Arno Victor for handling the bookings, Eugene Armer for his help. Kevin Wilson Smith, Spikkels, The footplate crew of Frik Boshoff, Gabor Kovacs and Dewald Heydenrych for all the effort and teamwork put into this event. Not only was the day a huge success, but the quality of photos and varience of a theme, has certainly opened up the field of railway photogrqaphy and interest.
This too was a special event in the sense of this year being the 150th of the railways in this country and the centenery of the formation of the SAR .
Well done to all who attended.

Re: Winter Photogala
These latest photos are very good but also interesting in that they show the scene, not through the eyes of a train enthusiast or railwayman, but rather through the eyes of a photographer with no real knowledge of trains.Gabor Kovacs wrote:Here is some more pictures, I found on http://www.flickr.com, from this past Sundays' Photo Gala. This makes them valuable in showing what needs to be available as information to the uninitiated.
