Giant Russian Steam Locomotives

Inspired by a post on Railroad.Net, I looked up the USSR's huge 5' gauge Garratt, built by Beyer Peacock in 1932, reputedly the largest steam loco ever built in Europe. Seems it worked well enough but was never replicated.

The original post was about the Soviet AA20-1, the world's only locomotive with a 4-14-4 wheel arrangement. The AA20-1 holds two records: the largest number of coupled axles on a locomotive, and being the longest rigid frame locomotive in Europe. Apparently it wasn't very successful. See Wikipedia
