The FOTR team not only works on railway steam locomotives, but also maintains and operates agricultural steam engines for the Willem Prinsloo museum. On 2nd June 2007 Robert, Kobus, Steve S, John A, Tom and Uncle Norman, ably supported by Louiza and Jane, operated the steam engines during the mampoer festival.

Very belatedly I've found out from Robert that the tractor is a 1913 2-cylinder steam tractor with steel tyres, built by J&H McLaren & Co of Leeds, Yorkshire. It was primarily an agricultural tractor, not a road engine.

We are hoping to bring this engine to FOTR's new site at Hercules in the near future, where it will be repaired - it is currently out of service. It will be an interesting attraction for our passengers even while it is stationary, but hopefully we will be able to keep it for a while after it has been repaired and steam it occasionally.
