OO/HO African profile model railway in Kenya: 02 - First tracklaying

Today I laid the first track, in the fiddle yard. The fiddle yard will be more difficult to access when the main baseboard is fixed, but also it's over 40 years since I have laid any model railway track, so I wanted to experiment a bit in an area which will not be so visible.

The fiddle yard is now connected to what will eventually be the lower level loop line.

Not proper tracklaying, but just laying out the track to get an idea of what it looks like. Station at the far end, loco depot in the middle, coaling stage bottom right.
