24. July 2008 - Cutting out the base board.

The layout is like an inverted U.
Remember also that all the track on the base is hidden in the final layout - this means that the track now is being extended and raised to form the top level.
So far the track have been extended over the left arm of the U, where the base has also been cut out.
Carrying on to the right arm of the U, the base again was now cut out. A lot of the wood can be reused, but the main reason is to provide access in the future to the hidden track.
Photo 1 shows the area cut out.
Photo 2 is a view of the same area from where the existing high level track has been put in place (the base board for the latter has been removed, but you can see the uprights).
