Nr 5112 saturated boiler under test 1971 Eveleigh

This is a shot of 5112's boiler under test at Eveleigh in 1971 when I was an apprentice "sparkie". The boilers were tested in 4 bay and we worked out of 5 bay. The boiler tab is off loco 5134, which had been scrapped the previous year. Nr 5112 was allocated to Port Waratah, and worked as a yard shunter up until the end of steam in December 1972.
These old (turn of the century 2-8-0) locos worked on non-air-braked coalies right up till 1972, and outlasted many classes more modern than they were.
