1.
Waiting for the double header from Queenstown to assault the grades on the Boesmanshoek Pass, Nathan relaxes, whist still keeping an eye on the railway line in the background. 1977
2.
Found this picture of me when Goran Enqvist, one of our Swedish members, and I did a trip to Vryburg and got a footplate ride with driver Alan Johnstone from Australia, who was stationed there with John Gilberthorpe. We had chance to drive and fire on the late afternoon train back to Vryburg from Mafeking. 1983

Swedish member Goran Enqvist, currently one of the few steam crews allowed by the SJ state railways, to drive steam on specials on the main line in Sweden, seen here under the guidance of Australian driver Alan Johnstone. Alan, was one of the overseas enthusiasts who started here on the SAR as firemen and finally became drivers. He was stationed at Vryburg at this time along with John Gilberthorpe. 1983
