As a friend who travelled from England to join John and Jane in their celebration, I was astonished to see how much FOTR had done to preserve and maintain the trains. Now I understand what John kept going on about! It was a real thrill to take the trip, meet the different members of the team, and be part of such a special day. It really was a world away from our local 'Lavender Line' - although part of the worldwide enthusiasm and commitment to steam.
