Gautrain bus drivers to go on strike again
Drivers are demanding that they be provided with transport to and from work

The Gautrain bus services might be disrupted in some parts of Gauteng on Monday afternoon because of an imminent strike by drivers, said the Bombela Concession company.

"The drivers are demanding that the MegaExpress bus company provides them with a transport service from their residences to their workplaces every day," spokeswoman Kelebogile Machaka said. "The service is now running normally even though the drivers reported for duty half-an-hour late this morning."

Ms Machaka said the management of the bus operating company was negotiating with employee representatives to resolve the dispute. She said there might be service disruptions from 6pm, when the drivers were expected to embark on a strike.

Areas likely to be affected included the Johannesburg city centre, Kempton Park, Fourways, Randburg, the Pretoria city centre and Brooklyn. Contingency plans were in place to minimise the effects of the strike, Ms Machaka said. "We apologise for any inconvenience this industrial action might cause," she said.

Gee, thats a cheek. They can use the Gautrain busses to get to work :-) Actually with the tolling of the highways getting to work may be beyond the reach of a number of people with low salaries. Its also going to affect many things, it may even impact on FotR passengers coming from JHB. But seriously, the Gautrain bus situation is becoming a real joke, every time they go on strike people end up stranded and then revert back to using their cars.
Not quite on the rails.

Never mind that. They apprently managed to wreck one of the busses this morning (13 January 2012), overturning it on the freeway at the Snake Road exit! Several people were injured but no deaths, according to the radio news I heard.
