Vryheid Derailment - Coal Train

A derailment occured on the coal line to Richards Bay on the 26th of Jan 2009. The cause is still under investigation.

Some 55 wagons were derailed near Vryheid - but no injuries.

Both tracks were blocked for 2 days, but despite this there was no impact on shipments, as the stockpile at Richard's Bay Coal Terminal was almost full.
