100 years of railways in South Africa happens on 31 May 2010.
Since Transnet have shown virtually no interest in celebrating this milestone, it falls upon the clubs to do so.
At Cullinan on Sat 29 May we had our gallant little Pocket Rocket 24 class doing her final turn before withdrawal for 3 year boiler inspection. Some SA flags were found and an impromptu photo session was held to mark the occasion.

Glad I am still here to witness it and well done to FOTR for having the decency to remember and commemorate such a special railway occasion. Well done. Can we get the crews names for future researchers.
Well done FOTR.
Well done FOTR.

100 years since SAR was founded.
150 years since first train ran in what is now SA.

And no interest from anyone down here to even fire up a train for the celebration! What gives?
