Gautrain: lost property praise

Post by John Ashworth »

GAUTRAIN’S LOST PROPERTY EXAMPLE

Railways Africa on May 23, 2011 in Gautrain

Sue Richardson, writing to the Johannesburg Times: “What a joy to be able to smile and enjoy a celebration, which has no impact on us, politically or otherwise, so without agendas or guilt. In keeping with the positive theme, I was hugely impressed by a recent event which proved that certain things do work really well.

“A friend was going on a short break and used the Gautrain for his trip to the airport. With all the hurry, though, he left his laptop (which, as we all know, usually contains our entire lives) on the train. That sinking sick feeling had barely made itself felt when the Gautrain security office contacted him and told him that the laptop was safe, and could be collected, with the correct identification procedure obviously, from their head office in Sandton.

“A huge up to the Gautrain staff and management, and thanks for providing the living and breathing proof that honesty and integrity are still possible. This is an example which many other organisations could and should follow. Imagine the difference that would make. The wonderful, positive energy generated could power this nation for longer, and far more economically than Eskom.”
