Not going to happen. Shortage of locos being one of the issues.
The only practical way would be to reinstate the loop line at Sir Lowry's Pass station so it can be used as a stopping point. The main issue being there is nowhere for a freight train to cross a passenger train other than Somerset West or Steenbras siding and both are 15km apart.
Good idea but a bit late.

I'm sure this could work, but why not from Firgrove with a stop in S/Pass?
I've noticed that there are hardly any 35-000s on the line anymore. Mostly 35-400s these days.

Yesterday there were 4 x 35's at Caledon and another on the shunt.
Another 4 were hauling a train to Bellville and this morning 4 different 35's went back to Caledon.
