Re: South America’s First Luxury Sleeper Train
When these carriages were used in Australia, the service was a disaster, both partners, Orient Express and the Queensland Government Railways lost money
But I guess that is to be expected, when bureaucrats become involved. An entity owned by the Orient Express group, bought out the QGR half of the JV, (said to be for cents in the dollar), stored the carriages in Australia under cover for around 12 years, then shipped to Peru in mid 2016. It is a wonder that you did not hear the moans from the Qld foamers in SA. Our heritage was being ripped off and shipped overseas. The carriages were actually built in the mid 90's on salvaged caboose underframes, which is why they are so short

The money behind Perurail does not have a taste for Chinese takeaway. Their last loco order for 8 units was placed with Locomotoras San Luis in Mexico
