Train hits 4x4 on level crossing

Two people were injured when a train hit their 4x4 vehicle on a level crossing in Cumbria.

Officers from the British Transport Police (BTP) were called on Wednesday morning after the Land Rover was struck in Flookburgh, Grange Over Sands.

Two men in the vehicle were injured and taken to hospital, with one being flown to Lancaster Royal Infirmary.

No-one was injured on the 0827 GMT TransPennine Express service from Manchester Airport to Barrow.

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) has been informed.
