Photo Gala morning shots by Aidan McCarthy

Here are some of my shots taken during the Sunday morning session. Show you don't need a big tour to get good photographs. Thanks to all involved in organising the event.

Aidan - cracker pictures!

The first 3 are especially good - composition wise you made some good choices here to get pics that are out of the ordinary!

Thanks for sharing.

Very, very nice. The first one is super and could be anywhere in the country! Well done. Stev A, could we not run this on front page of website to show some of the creativity of photographers with what we made available.

Hi All.

Thanks for the kind comments on my photos. Interesting that all the railwaymen like picture one, which is not your classic clean steam shot with all the branches. Even had to remove some twigs out of the chimmney with photoshop.

Cheers

Aidan, I too like the first one. I don't believe in classic clean steam shots - I admire photographers who can seize the opportunity to make a good shot wherever one presents itself.

But I also especially like no 4 - a nice tight shot of the loco, full of power - and no 7. But in fact I like them all! Well done and thanks.

Hi John.

If you like shot 4 then you will also like a similar shot of 4079 in the Reefsteamers section. The zooms available for digital SLRs are amazing as they allow you to go from wide angle to extreme telephoto with a flick of the wrist.

Cheers
