TFR FIXED SCHEDULING ON SCHEDULE

The new “fixed scheduling” of trains is due to be completed on all routes by October 2012. Transnet Freight Rail CEO Siyabonga Gama is confident this dateline will be met, he told FTW, despite a few problems on the Natcor corridor which have been put right. The impressive working results recently made public are seen as a growth in market share and “significant strides” in taking freight off the country’s roads.

COAL LINE RECORD

On August 14, 2012 Railways Africa

On 6 August, Transnet Freight Rail chief executive Siyabonga Gama announced a new record in coal moved on the heavy-haul line to Richards Bay. The total volume conveyed in a week was 1.877 million tonnes.
